Headline:  December 2008, Review of Ophthalmology:  “Survey Says Eye Surgeons Believe in LASIK” Surgeons and their family members are five times more likely to have LASIK than the general public.

In a recent survey of ophthalmic surgeons it was reported that a majority of eligible ophthalmic surgeons have had LASIK surgery. Approximately 50% of surgeons are candidates for LASIK, and 35% of all eye surgeons have had the procedure. This is in great contrast to the general public’s conversion rate of 7-8% of eligible candidates.   This speaks volumes about the trust and safety factors that ophthalmic surgeons have regarding LASIK.

“Technology’s as good as it’s ever been, satisfaction rates are as high as ever and more surgeons are having it done to their own eyes as a reflection of the quality of the technology” states Richard Duffy, MD, author of the survey sent to members of International Society of Refractive Surgery/ American Academy of Ophthalmology
